A simple pencil lay still on the musty brown carpet of Mr. glens house. One simple unsharpened, eraserless, pencil was the beginning of the change.
Mr. Alfred George Deen lived quite a different life. One day he was vacationing in Brazil and the next he was kissing a beautiful girl on top of the Eiffel tower. Many speculated and Alfred told many that he was an actor, always working, 7 days a week. In reality though, Alfred belonged to a highly secretive and very rare cult of people. The Drudges. The drudges had bodies that appeared to be human and brains no grander that regular humans. However they were quite the opposite of regular humans. The Drudges were like slaves to humanity forced to comply and shift to the wishes of humans. Let me give you an example: Sara Green and billy hurst were too lovebirds very much in love. Billy, however was only interested in Sara's money, a greedy old man with no care in his heart. Well the day before the wedding Billy encountered Lilly whose was twice as rich as Sara and so he decided to not marry Sara and woo Lilly instead. Well on the the day of the wedding Sara really and truly wished with all of her heart to spend the rest of her life with Billy. And so it turned out the Alfred, a Drudge, shape-shifted into the form of Billy, and in fact married Sara that day. Overnight Alfred fixed created a Billy fit for Sara and in the morning he merely stepped out of the body and disappeared off to help some other about to be heart broken member of our society. There were exactly 17 drudges left in the world when Alfred dropped his dull pencil. He was in the middle of writing a letter to Mr. glens wife when he learned that ten druges had been executed over the weekend and that they were down to a mere 7. They already had had to slow down time in order to comply to everyones demand but now that they had a mere 7, it would be nigh immpossible. Their bodies would be torn apart with the human heartstrings tugging them in all directions.
